Is planning permission required for having this outdoor building in our garden?

Typically, you won’t have to worry about seeking planning permission, and our buildings are designed to stay under a total height of 2.5m and fall under the category of ‘permitted developments,’ therefore planning permission is not required.

However, it’s always a good idea to check with your local authority if the following guidelines apply:

The garden building should not be used as self-contained accommodation.
Additional regulations apply to areas of interest, such as national parks or listed buildings.

Is a base needed?

It is essential that all garden buildings are assembled on a foundation that is both solid and level. This will ensure that the construction of your building goes smoothly and will prevent issues, as all our buildings are designed to be assembled on a completely level base.

Assembling on an unsuitable foundation may invalidate your warranty, so let us know if you have any questions about this.

We also have our specially designed Eze Base, which provides a solid and level foundation for our garden rooms and offices with minimal groundwork required. Please let us know if this would be something you are interested in and we will see if it is possible to add this to your order.

Fully Insulated

For an office you can use all year round, the My Den comes fully insulated with our high performance multi-foil insulation. Our multi-foil insulation has multiple layers which lock the temperature in the colder months and deflects the heat in the warmer months. It also provides you with the same U-values of 120mm glass wool insulation. It is also much thinner which means you have more room inside compared to using conventional insulation rolls.

To make assembly as easy and as quick as possible for you, we have specially designed the panels to have the multi-foil insulation and internal cladding pre-fitted, meaning that the panels simply slot together without any additional fitting for the internal cladding.

Fully Insulated Metal Roof

For the ultimate roof covering the My Den comes with our heavy duty, fully insulated metal roof as standard. Made from corrugated metal outer shell and premium gloss internal finish, our metal roof provides increased weather protection and increased longevity of your building.

Our metal roof panels also come with a solid 40mm insulated core, which means that they will keep your building warmer in the winter and cooler in the warmer months. The roof panels are also easy to fit and don’t require any additional roof covering, making them faster to fit than a timber roof which requires a roof covering material. The metal roof is also our lowest maintenance roof option and will protect your building throughout its lifespan.

Your My Den comes with our signature 16mm thick secret nail tongue and groove cladding. Coupled with our free pressure treatment, your My Dens interlocking cladding provides excellent weather protection from the elements.

Pressure Treatment

We have used our premium 27mm x 44mm framing and 16mm tongue and groove cladding, making your building extremely strong and durable. Our tongue and groove floor thickness options also provide extra strength when in use.

16mm secret nail timber cladding

Our secret nail timber cladding gives your building a smooth finish and interlocks for extra strength and protection. The vertical cladding gives your building a contemporary look and also provides excellent water run-off and increased vertical strength.

Thicker and doubled up framing

The mey Den comes with modular wall panels where our timber framing is doubled up where the panels join, providing extra strength and rigidity. This gives you a total thickness of 54mm.

Insulated as standard with Multi-foil Insulation

Our panels are pre-insulated with high-performance multi-foil Insulation giving you the same U-values as 120mm thick glass wool insulation. Our panels contain air pockets on each side of the insulation to lock the temperature inside the walls, keeping your building at a comfortable temperature.

For a fully insulated garden office, we provide double glazing as standard in the uPVC door and timber windows. In addition to the insulation values, it also helps to reduce noise from the outside and increase your building's security.

Floor options available

If you will be using your My Den daily, we recommend upgrading your floor to our 19mm or 28mm thickness option. Our 19mm thick tongue and groove floor will give your floor extra strength for supporting furniture and also increase the floor's U-values. Our 28mm is our strongest option and provides the best insulation.
